The municipalities of Tavira, Loulé and São Brás de Alportel today present a maximum danger of rural fire, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The IPMA also placed around 30 councils of Faro, Beja, Santarém, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Viseu and Bragança at very high risk of fire.

The fire hazard, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.

Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The IPMA predicts periods of very cloudy skies for today on the continent, with little cloudiness in general in the southern region from mid-morning onwards.

Periods of rain or showers are forecast, especially in the North and Center regions, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms, and the wind will blow weak to moderate from the northwest and sometimes strong on the coast south of Cabo Raso from the afternoon onwards and in the highlands , especially in the Center and South.

Forecasts point to a small drop in the minimum temperature in the North and Center interior and a drop in the maximum temperature, except in the eastern Algarve, where there will be a slight rise.

Maximum temperatures will fluctuate between 19 degrees Celsius in Guarda and 27 in Faro.
