Silves Library has “Music for Children and Young People”

Initiative will be launched on Saturday

Children and young people between the ages of 6 and 12 from Silves will have music dedicated to them at the Municipal Library of Silves, starting on Saturday, April 22, the day for which the first session of the activity “Music for Children” is scheduled. and Youth”.

The session for children aged 6 to 9 takes place at 10:00 am. At 11:00 am, young people from 10 to 12 years old are invited to listen to music.

The initiative, promoted by Tiago Pires, aims to «provide children and young people with contact with the different types of music and rhythms of some cultures», through «traditional Portuguese, Arabic, African and Brazilian music», describes Câmara de Silves.

«In each of the sessions, the participants will get to know some melodies and rhythms originating in these countries and, later, accompany with simple rhythms through the varied percussion instruments that will be made available», he adds.

The sessions will feature two permanent instruments – the marimba (Tiago Pires) and the transverse flute (Elsa Marques) – which will support the entire rhythmic base.

Each session is limited to the participation of 15 children and young people (accompanied by an adult).
