Albufeira will dedicate the month of April to Education and Training with events ranging from tapestry workshops to teaching how to build a CV. 

From the 12th to the 14th of April, the training room of the Municipal Swimming Pools will host the Workshop “Prepare the Future”. From the 26th to the 28th, the Sports Pavilion of
Albufeira hosts the 29th edition of OPTO – Algarve Education and Training Forum and on the XNUMXth of April the Creative Workshop: Decorative Tapestry in Frame Loom takes place, taking place at the facilities of the Center for Arts and Crafts, in downtown Albufeira.

José Carlos Rolo emphasizes that «we are always in time to learn and that currently continuous training is increasingly important in the professional and personal path of all of us».

«In the European Year of Skills, it makes perfect sense to practice lifelong learning and focus on adapting to the new demands and needs of the labor market. On the other hand, it is increasingly important that young people develop the appropriate skills in order to prepare their academic and professional future», highlights Cristiano Cabrita, vice-president of the municipality, responsible for the Youth and Entrepreneurship department.

Aware of this reality, in partnership with Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira and the CLDS-4g Generation project, the Municipality of Albufeira, through the GAJ-Gabinete de Apoio à Juventude, developed the Workshop “Prepare the Future”, taking place on 12 (Wednesday)
fair) and 14th (Friday) of April, from 9 am to 30 pm, in the Training room of the Municipal Swimming Pools of Albufeira.

The initiative aims to prepare young people for the transition to professional life: “How to build a CV”; “How to prepare for an interview” and “Who am I?” are the topics to be addressed.

There are two sessions aimed at different age groups. On the 12th, the session is aimed at young people from 16 to 18 years old and on the 14th at young people from 19 to 21 years old.

The Workshop is free but requires prior registration with the GAJ.

From the 26th to the 28th of April, the Albufeira Sports Pavilion will once again host the OPTO – Forum for Education and Training in the Algarve, the largest event of its kind south of the Tagus, which aims to support family decisions within the scope of the school, academic path and professional, of young students.

The event welcomes representatives of higher education, secondary and professional education, languages, mobility e study abroad, as well as other entities, including military and relief agencies.

This year, the big news is the Sustainability Prize, which aims to «distinguish, promote and reward students with the best projects in the field of Sustainability, encouraging the dissemination of new talents in the municipality of Albufeira», says the municipality.

Next April 29th, from 10:00 am to 13:30 pm, the Creative Workshop: Decorative Tapestry in Frame Loom, taking place at the Centro de Artes e
Ofícios de Albufeira (to open on the 25th of April), in downtown Albufeira.

Trainer Susana Mendez will teach the basic techniques for creating a small decorative tapestry, using the loom.

Participants will learn how to assemble the web, get to know the different threads, the basic structure of the tapestry, some adornment stitches and how to make the finishing touches.

Frame looms will also be made available to all participants for use during the Workshop, as well as a manual for consultation with the description of the project and some additional information.

Registration costs 50 euros (material included), no prior experience is required.
