Zero joins European project to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals at home

Project is funded by the Life Program of the European Union and lasts until March 2026

The environmentalist association Zero will train Eco-Ambassadors in the field of chemicals, who will help families to reduce the use and contact with hazardous substances in the domestic environment, as part of a European project, it was announced today.

Called LIFE ChemBee, this project funded by the Life Program of the European Union and lasting until March 2026, consists of a partnership between nine European countries, to help families live in non-toxic environments, based on the assumption that citizens generally associate products hazardous chemicals for heavy industry and not for cleaning, cosmetic or consumer products in general, which may contain harmful pollutants for the body and the environment.

This initiative, in which Zero is a partner, will train designated eco-ambassadors, whose mission is to enable European citizens to be aware of the presence of these dangerous substances and to raise awareness of their impacts, promoting a change in consumption practices, with a view to a non-toxic environment.

The eco-ambassadors will then visit the households, where they will advise and subsequently monitor the changes made and the results achieved. It is planned to train around 200 specialists and involve 4.000 households.

According to Zero, this methodology has proven itself, as it has already been applied in other European countries (Non-Hazard City project), having now been extended to Germany, Austria, France, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Czech Republic and Sweden.
