VRSA signs an agreement with the Civil Service Workers Union

Document clarifies regulations regarding workers' vacations or justified absences

The Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António and the Union of Workers in Public and Social Functions of the South and Autonomous Regions — STFPSSRA signed this Tuesday, March 21, an amendment to the Municipality's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The document clarifies the regulations regarding workers' holidays, namely the possibility of extending this period due to length of service (one working day for every 10 years of service) or for obtaining a positive mention in the performance evaluation (3 working days), among other aspects.

With regard to dismissals and justified absences, when the death of a family member of the collateral worker in the 3rd degree (uncle, aunt, nephew or niece) occurs, the worker is entitled to the day of the funeral, without loss of of remuneration.

Likewise, workers will be entitled, within the limits provided for in the legislation in force, to be exempted from attending professional training.

In addition to the mandatory holidays, workers are entitled to enjoy the municipal holiday, as well as to take advantage of the time off on Carnival Tuesday.

For Conceição Pires, councilor responsible for Human Resources, «this agreement represents a safeguard for the rights of City Council workers, striving for their dignity and respect».

On behalf of the STFPSSRA, Rosa Franco and Maria Teresa Garcia, as members of the Board of Directors and Agents, were present, who welcomed this Amendment to the Collective Agreement of Public Employer Entity, considering it «important for the union members and for the workers of the municipality» and highlighting «the diplomatic way in which it was implemented».
