Vigilantes de Natureza supervise recreational and professional fishermen on the Southwest Coast

Action took place on the coast of the municipalities of Sines, Odemira, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo

Six notices, of which three for prohibited fishing in Marine Partial Protection Area I, one for capturing barnacles overweight, one for catching octopus without measurement/weight and another for lack of a fishing license, were raised in the on the 22nd and 23rd, during an inspection of recreational and professional fishing carried out by Nature Watchers from the ICNF, in the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.

Four seizure notices were also raised, with fish and shellfish captured without measurement being seized, which was returned to the natural habitat because it was still alive, as well as fish/shellfish captured with measurement and in conditions to be consumed, which was verified by the municipal veterinarian capture area and delivered to Social Solidarity Institutions.

The action took place on the coast of the municipalities of Sines, Odemira, Aljezur and Vila do Bispo, with 11 Nature Watchers involved, as well as the head of the DVPF – Division of Preventive Surveillance and Supervision of the Algarve, supported by five vehicles.

40 recreational or professional fishermen were inspected.
