The first Compassionate Community in the Algarve will be presented

This first Compassionate Community in the Algarve was one of the winning projects of “Portugal Compassivo – Ties Que Cuidam”

The Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) and the Portuguese Red Cross – Delegation of Faro-Loulé promote, on the 5th of April, the official presentation of the first Compassionate Community in the Algarve, called «Viver ComPassão». The initiative takes place at 10:00 am at Teatro Lethes, in Faro.

This first Compassionate Community in the Algarve was one of the winning projects of “Portugal Compassivo – Laços Que Cuidam”, a competition that resulted from a cooperation protocol between the Portuguese Association of Palliative Care and the “la Caixa” Foundation and whose main objective is to encourage the creation of compassionate communities that allow compliance with the current certification criteria by the international movement “Charter for Compassion”.

The opening session of the presentation ceremony of the Compassiva Community of the Algarve «Viver ComPaixão» will be attended by representatives and partners of the project, namely, Paulo Neves, representing the Administration of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, Dora Valério Luís, president of Portuguese Red Cross – Delegation of Faro-Loulé, Hugo Lucas, from the Portuguese Palliative Care Association, and Ana Feijó Cunha, from the “La Caixa” Foundation.

At 10:40 am, the lecture “What is this, after all, Living Compassion?”, will be attended by Sílvia Villar, from Associação Borba Compassiva. At 11:10 am, the protocol is signed by all the project's representative entities and partners, and then the event closes with a musical moment.
