Tennis: Portuguese Gonçalo Oliveira and Australian Jason Taylor win in pairs

This Sunday, Gonçalo Oliveira also discusses the singles final

The first title under discussion in this 4th edition of the Portimão M25 International Open was at home. In the pairs final that took place on Saturday afternoon, the pair composed of the Portuguese Gonçalo Oliveira and the Australian Jason Taylor won, defeating the also Australian Akira Santillan and the British Billy Harris, in just two sets, in the partial of 6-2 and 6-2.

In a one-way match and with the very inspired Portuguese-Australian duo, with Harris implacable in the net while Oliveira always very safe in the back of the court, the hegemony of the “home” duo was noticeable from an early age, with Gonçalo Oliveira and Jason Taylor to substantiate the dominance in the final to the delight of the locals present in another sunny day here in Portimão.

In the end, the winning team received the champion trophies from the hands of Portimão councilor José Pedro Cardoso, while Ricardo Marzagão, president of the Tennis and Padel Club of Portimão, presented the prizes to the finalists.

This Sunday, Gonçalo Oliveira will also discuss the singles final, this time with the Australian Akira Santillan.

In Saturday's semi-finals, Oliveira beat the Spaniard Adria Soriano Barrera, by 7-6 (2) and 6-1, while Santillan was forced to play three balanced games to defeat the Scotsman Aidan McHugh, who defeated by 6-2, 6-7 (7) and 7-6 (2).
