The Portuguese BMX Race Cup started this weekend with a double round on the Portimão track. In the main categories, the winners were the same on Saturday and Sunday: Renato Silva (Team BMX Quarteira), in the men's superclass, and Rita Xufre (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Knowledge Inside), in the under-23 and under-17 women.

In the men's events on Saturday and Sunday, Renato Silva was hegemonic and was opposed by the same rivals on both days. Bernardo Rocha (Team BMX Quarteira) was second in both rounds and Carlos Rosado (Clube Bicross de Portimão) took third place in both rounds.

Something similar happened between the under-23 and under-17 women. Rita Xufre was the strongest, while Matilde Melo (Linda a Pastora Sporting Clube) and Leonor Carvalho (Núcleo Bicross de Setúbal/Knowledge Inside), always in that order, took the podium on Saturday and Sunday.

In the men's competition for those over 17 years old, balance was the keynote. Francis Luiz, from Clube Bicross de Portimão, won on Saturday, while teammate Marco Albano prevailed the next day. As a result, the two are tied at the top of the Cup overall. As for the women over 23 years old, Mónica Gaboleiro didn't give a chance and won both rounds.

In the younger categories, the cadet Leonardo Carmo (Team BMX Quarteira), the juvenile André Muller (Clube Bicross de Portimão) and the sub-15 Íris Moraru (Clube Bicross de Portimão) stood out, who came out ahead of the Cup after the two opening rounds. The same happened to Francis Luiz (cruiser 30/39) and Paulo Domingues (cruiser 40+).

Playing at home, Clube Bicross de Portimão collectively imposed itself, both on Saturday and Sunday.

The next double stage of the Portuguese BMX Race Cup takes place in Coimbra, on the 1st and 2nd of April.
