Draw guarantees two Portuguese in the second round of The Campus Open

Rain prevented yesterday's games

The draw held this Monday, March 6th, in a match canceled by bad weather, dictated two meetings between Portuguese tennis players in the first round of the main singles table of The Campus Open.

The most anticipated duel of the first round will pit Gonçalo Oliveira (489th in the ATP ranking), who on Sunday ended his four-year streak of singles titles by winning the Loulé Open, and Henrique Rocha (629 .º).

The maiato, only 18 years old, celebrated winning his first title on the international circuit about two weeks ago, at the 2nd International Tennis Open in Vila Real de Santo António.

But this will not be the only 100% Portuguese duel in the singles variant, given that also the oliveirense Fábio Coelho (1012th), current absolute national champion, and Tiago Pereira (1434th), starting the first year of senior, have crossed paths.

The group of seven Portuguese tennis players already secured in the main frame is completed with three elements that will face the top seeds: Jaime Faria (588th) was drawn against fifth, Billy Harris (352nd), Pedro Araújo (643rd. th) against the first, Kacper Zuk (257th), and Duarte Vale (558th) against the eighth, Daniel Cox (408th).

They can be joined by those who still play the qualifying, again very affected by the bad weather: if on Sunday some matches were concluded, with emphasis on the triumphs of Manuel Guedes de Almeida and Duarte Trocado, this Monday no service was done in the brief from The Campus due to the rain that fell throughout the day.

Thus, for Tuesday, 33 meetings were scheduled: the rest of the first round of the qualifying phase, with many Portuguese in action (Gonçalo Falcão, Manuel Guise Pinheiro, Martim Pinto Gonçalves, Bernardo Henriques, Afonso Portugal, André Stewart, Martim Couto , Luís Miguel Saraiva, Manuel Guedes de Almeida, Duarte Correia, Francisco Vilaça, Tomás Tenil, Rafael Miranda and Gabriel Tacanho), and those from the second round.

Weather conditions permitting, the duels for the third and final round of the qualifying and the start of the main frames.
