CHUA professionals raised awareness about sleep-related problems

Sleep is essential to health and «this action allows clarifying doubts regarding this topic»

The senior diagnostic and therapeutic technicians (TSDT) of the Sleep Laboratory of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) marked, last Friday, March 17, World Sleep Day with an awareness-raising action and free sleep screenings to the population, at Forum Algarve, in Faro.

«This action was intended to sensitize the population to correct sleep hygiene, as well as to identify possible sleep pathologies», explained Ana Magalhães, TSDT Coordinator of Neurophysiology, specializing in Sleep Medicine.

Sleep is essential to health and «this action allows clarifying doubts regarding this topic».

«It is estimated that only a third of people seek the necessary help, and with this action it is possible to guide and refer people in the context of Sleep Medicine», said Beatriz Pacheco, TSDT Cardiopneumologia at Laboratório do Sono.

«The Portuguese sleep little and badly», says the organization, indicating that a «timely diagnosis promotes better quality of life, health and well-being».
