Algarve Youth Guitar Orchestra gives concert this Sunday in Portimão

The concert has free admission, subject to ticket collection, at the TEMPO ticket office

The Orquestra Juvenil de Guitarras do Algarve will perform this Sunday, March 19, at 17 pm, at Teatro Municipal de Portimão. The initiative is part of the Young March, an initiative of the Municipality of Portimão.

There will be 40 young musicians on stage, from various locations in the Algarve, who will be directed by Eudoro Grade. The concert program presents a set of works that are part of the history of the OJGA.

The Orquestra Juvenil de Guitarras do Algarve is «a regional project of national scope», in which «young people are the main interlocutors and actors and whose general dynamic is based on the area of ​​music and is based on coordinates considered of cultural and social importance in the objective dynamics of good practices».

The Algarve Guitar Youth Orchestra was created in 2001 by the AGA-Associação de Guitarra do Algarve, involving young people from eight municipalities in the Algarve.

These councils are represented by local institutions, which act as driving forces for the project, namely the Union of Parishes of Bensafrim and Barão de São João; Mexilhoeirense Instruction and Recreation Club, Parish Council of Monchique; Parish Council of Aljezur; Parish Council of Marmelete; Regional Conservatory of the Algarve Maria Campina; People's House of São Bartolomeu de Messines; Escola de Artes Mestre Fernando Rodrigues and Igreja Paroquial de Ferreiras and has the support of the respective municipalities and the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
