Woman accused of stealing a bank card from an elderly person in a nursing home

Woman made several purchases and withdrawals, having moved more than eight thousand euros with the stolen card

A 50-year-old woman who allegedly stole a debit card from a nursing home user in the municipality of Alcoutim was accused yesterday. 

According to the GNR, the steps took place following an investigation that had been going on for about three months, which made it possible to identify the author of the theft and determine that the suspect, «taking advantage of the vulnerability of the victim due to her age, took of the card and respective access code».

It was also possible to determine that the woman made several purchases and withdrawals, having moved more than eight thousand euros with the stolen card.

Following the action, four search warrants were complied with, two at home, one in a vehicle and another at the suspect's workplace, in the municipalities of Mértola, Alcoutim and in the metropolitan area of ​​Porto.

The searches culminated in the apprehension of am mobile phone, a speaker, a video game console, tickets to music shows and various branded clothing and footwear.

The suspect was constituted as an arguida and the facts were communicated to the Judicial Court of Vila Real de Santo António.
