Minister inaugurates Alzheimer's home in Castro Marim

The work cost 5 million euros, with 83% financing

The Alzheimer's home in Castro Marim, the first unit of its kind in the south of Portugal, will be inaugurated this Friday, March 24, from 15 pm, by the Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security. 

Ana Mendes Godinho will be present, together with the direction of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Castro Marim and with the executive of Castro Marim.

The work cost 5 million euros, with 83% financing.

Included in the Air Action Plan for Urban Rehabilitation, it was financed by the PO CRESC Algarve 2020 program, supported by Portugal and the European Union, co-financed by the ERDF in 1,5 million euros, added to the million euros in support from the Municipality of Castro Marim .

The remaining amount was assumed by Santa Casa da Misericórdia, through equity and a bank loan.

This social equipment is intended to provide permanent or temporary residential accommodation to 70 adults with neurocognitive disorders (dementia), also incorporating a neurocognitive rehabilitation unit and specialized health services.

Simultaneously, the day center will have capacity for 20 people.
