Another two and a half tons of drugs seized off the coast of the Algarve

The operation joined the National Maritime Authority, Navy and Portuguese Air Force

A high-speed vessel, with more than two and a half tons of hashish, was seized this morning, March 21, off the coast of the Algarve. Three men were also detained: two Moroccans and a Spaniard.

The operation joined the National Maritime Authority, Navy and Portuguese Air Force.

The vessel was detected at about 70 nautical miles (approximately 129 kilometres).

The suspicious vessel was intercepted and, after an approach carried out by a Maritime Police vessel and a Navy vessel, operated by marines, it was verified that it was a high-speed vessel, with three crew members on board and 77 packs of drugs.

The vessel was taken to the Port of Faro.

The seized drug was later handed over to the Judiciary Police.
