Luísa Sobral, Ruy de Carvalho and José Pedro Gomes take the stage at the Lagos Cultural Center

March is the month dedicated to Theatre, but in Lagos there is much more

The Cultural Center of Lagos presents, throughout the month of March, a strong program, which includes this art, but also musical shows and exhibitions. Luísa Sobral, Ruy de Carvalho, Inês Castel-Branco, Rem Urasin and José Pedro Gomes are some of the names that will pass through the Duval Pestana Auditorium.

On the 4th, Saturday, Teatro do Invisível presents the play “A Visita”. Pedro Giestas plays a “man from the countryside”, using the memory of the culture of the rural world and the poetics of the popular through the fiction of contemporary theater.

Back in Lagos (March 10), Luísa Sobral opens the doors to solar pop and a brighter tone with “DanSando”, her sixth album of originals, maintaining the influences of jazz. Produced by Latin Grammy winner Tó Brandileone, the album was recorded between Lisbon and São Paulo.

Accustomed to playing music throughout the county, the concert cycle Sons ao Crepúsculo (Impar Impacto association) will present, in March, two shows – “Piano a 4-hands”, with Ana Tejado and Irina Mamrici (on the 11th), and “ Solo Piano Concerto”, with acclaimed musician Rem Urasin (19).

By the hands of the association Questão Repetida and the students who were part of the project, on March 18th “Seres de Reflexo” arrives, a multidisciplinary participatory art show that embraces music, theater and visual arts and that addresses themes such as self-knowledge, awareness of another, as well as our own probity.

The 24th will be dedicated to actor Ruy de Carvalho who, at 96, is the second oldest in the world in activity and the first in Portugal. In addition to personally presenting his exhibition “Retratos Contados” (shown in Exhibition Room 0 from March 14 to April 15), he will be the protagonist of the talk on active aging, at 17 pm, and of the emotional piece “Ruy – A História Devida ”, at 00:21 pm, in the auditorium.

To end the month in beauty, what we want is humor! Aldo Lima, Inês Castel-Branco, Inês Sá Frias and José Pedro Gomes are part of the cast of “A Estudante e o Sr. Henrique” (March 31), an endearing comedy about the fragility of family ties in which we follow the story and adventures of a grumpy septuagenarian who rents one of his rooms to a young student of limited resources.

Patents until May 6, you can also visit the two ongoing exhibitions free of charge – “Step by Step”, by the artist A. Pedro Correia (Exhibition Room 1), and “D. Sebastião in the History of Lagos” (Exhibition Room 2), an exhibition of the painting works participating in the competition alluding to the 450 years of the Elevation of Lagos and City.

Tickets for the shows are on sale at the Centro Cultural de Lagos reception or through Ticketline. See the full agenda here ou here.
