“Interaction with Orcas” is the theme of a workshop that will take place on the 3rd of March, starting at 9 am, organized by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF) and the Portuguese Navy.
The initiative follows the succession of recent episodes in the coastal zone of the Iberian Peninsula of interactions between killer whales and sailboats, and when the season in which these animals move regularly along the Portuguese coast is approaching.
The event will be broadcast in real time on ICNF Facebook by clicking here.
The organizers intend to "update the information already collected and try to find solutions that can minimize or even cancel this new behavior, with a view to protecting not only sailors and their vessels, but also the animals themselves".
The proposed date coincides with the celebrations of “World Wildlife Day”, whose theme this year is “Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation”.
