A 40-year-old man was arrested red-handed last Saturday, March 19, for forest fire, in the municipality of Alcoutim.
After reporting a fire on the Guadiana River, the GNR went to the scene, where a witness said he saw the arsonist and said the suspect had just left the scene.
The guards thus managed to locate the suspect, who still tried to flee, but ended up being arrested.
This action resulted in the seizure of three lighters used to start the fire.
The detainee was constituted as an arguido and the facts referred to the Judicial Court of Vila Real de Santo António.
