Cheese, Wine and Sausages Fair returns to Faro

There will be around 30 stands

The Cheese, Wine and Sausages Fair is back, from the 5th to the 9th of April, at Jardim Manuel Bivar, downtown Faro.

«As news for this year, the presence of the Azores Region stands out with the famous cheeses of São Jorge (DOP), as well as wines and sausages from several islands of this archipelago», advances the União de Freguesias de Faro, organizer of the initiative.

There will also be the presence of producers from the province of Cantabria, northern Spain, and the well-known Mahón Cheese (DOP) made by hand from the island of Menorca, as well as its sausages.

The rest of the fair is filled with producers from almost the entire mainland country, highlighting the famous cheeses from Serra da Estrela, Serra da Gardunha, Serpa, Borba, Aldeias de Montoito, Algarve, Alentejo, Bairrada, Beira Interior, Dão and Douro.

The «most of the cheeses present have already been awarded in different competitions and national and international cheese tastings, which provides this event with a wide range of genuine and quality products», according to the municipality.

Over the five days of the fair, visitors can also find a wide range of traditional sausages.

The area of taverns, as in previous years, will be open to the public right at lunchtime, extending its operation uninterruptedly throughout the afternoon and until closing at 23:00.

Wine lovers will be able to purchase the glass alluding to the event and visit the stands to taste the different types of wines or take advantage of the fair's promotions and buy, in addition to bottles, the wine by the glass of their favorite brands.

With hours between 12:00 and 23:00, this initiative is free of charge and the public can also count on some tastings of cheese, sausages and wine.
