A man suspected of threatening a person with a knife, inside the victim's house, on Ilha da Armona, was arrested by the Maritime Police last night, Friday, the 24th.
Following a complaint of a threatening crime and that the suspect was in possession of a bladed weapon, members of the Local Commands of the Maritime Police of Olhão and Faro traveled to this barrier island in the Ria Formosa.
"Upon arrival at the scene, the Maritime Police found that the suspect was outside the victim's residence, visibly altered, in possession of a bladed weapon", revealed the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
“Upon realizing the presence of the Maritime Police agents, the suspect fled, ignoring the stop orders. The suspect was then immobilized and detained, and was subsequently transported to the premises of the Olhão Maritime Police Local Command», added the same entity.
During this action, a bladed weapon, a replica of a firearm and about half a kilo of drugs were seized.
After contacting the Public Prosecutor's Office, the detainee stayed overnight at the PSP facilities in Faro and is waiting to appear in court for first judicial questioning.
