The expenditure made by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in 2022 increased by around 9% compared to 2021, to “a historic maximum” of 618 million euros, announced today in parliament the Minister of Education, Elvira Fortunato.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education is being heard in a parliamentary hearing, where she said, in her initial speech, that the financial execution (money actually spent) of the FCT “reached a historic maximum of 618 million euros” in 2022, representing a growth of “about 9% compared to 2021”.
FCT is the main entity, depending on the Government, which subsidizes scientific research in Portugal, namely through scholarships and work contracts and scientific projects.
