Children of Albufeira will have a different night at the Municipal Library

International Children's Book Day is celebrated annually on April 2

The children of Albufeira will be able to spend the night of April 1st at the Albufeira Library, among books and stories. 

The initiative, which runs from 20 pm to 30 pm, takes place within the scope of the International Children's Book Day.

«“A night at the Library” aims to bring together a group of 20 children, between 6 and 12 years old, accompanied by a family member, at the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, in a program that includes various activities to promote reading, with emphasis on 21:00 p.m. , for the storytelling session with Márcia Gamito», says the Câmara de Albufeira.

José Carlos Rolo, president of the Chamber, says that «”A night at the Library” aims to encourage reading by younger people and draw attention to the importance of children's books in the educational process».

The mayor highlights that «reading is fundamental, not only in the learning process but also in terms of the development of emotional intelligence, creativity, personality and social interaction».

International Children's Book Day is celebrated annually on April 2. The date is marked on the occasion of the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen, a renowned children's writer.
