Caravela «Boa Esperança» returns to Lagos as an Interpretive Center

There will be period animation and a visit to the vessel now transformed into an interpretive center

The caravel «Boa Esperança» returns to the Cais da Ribeira de Bensafrim, in Lagos, after a thorough restoration, as an Interpretation Center of the Portuguese Discoveries. The inauguration is scheduled for next Tuesday, March 21, at 15:30 pm.

The ceremony will be attended by the mayors of Lagos and Turismo do Algarve, Hugo Pereira and João Fernandes.

The inauguration will include period animation and a visit to the vessel now transformed into an interpretive center, whose objective is to guarantee “a true journey aboard the history of the Portuguese Discoveries”.

The repair work on the wood and paintwork on the «Boa Esperança», a replica of a XNUMXth-century caravel, was carried out at the Portinave shipyards, in Parchal (Lagoa). The intervention is part of the ExploraTerra application, co-financed by the INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal program (POCTEP).
