The Chamber of Faro will assume, as of April 3, the competences of the social area.
The competences to be received, until now assigned to the Social Security Institute, include the conclusion and follow-up of contracts for the insertion of beneficiaries of the Social Insertion Income (RSI) and the Service of Assistance and Social Monitoring (SAAS) of people and families in situations of emergency, vulnerability and social exclusion, which aims to contribute to the special protection of the most vulnerable groups by providing information and mobilizing adequate resources for each situation, with a view to promoting the improvement of their living conditions and well-being.
The follow-up actions of RSI beneficiaries, with a view to promoting their autonomy and social and professional insertion, will work in partnership with the institution GATO – Grupo de Ajuda a Toxicodependentes, maintaining the current operating models.
In the case of the Social Assistance and Monitoring Service (SAAS), it will be available at the premises of the Department of Social Development and Education of the Municipality of Faro, located at Praça José Afonso, nº1, in Faro, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm.
