Maritime and Navy Authority warns of worsening maritime unrest

Winds are expected from the southwest quadrant, with an average intensity of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 120 kilometers per hour

The National Maritime Authority and the Navy point to a "considerable worsening" of the cmeteorological and maritime unrest on the west coast of mainland Portugal, between 18 pm on Wednesday, March 00th, and 8 pm on Friday, the 18th.

«On the west coast of mainland Portugal, the sea wave will be characterized by a swell coming from the west quadrant, with a significant height that can reach six meters and a maximum height of 11 meters, with an average period varying between 13 and 16 seconds”, say these entities.

Winds are expected from the southwest quadrant, with an average intensity of 65 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 120 kilometers per hour.

Thus, the Navy and the National Maritime Authority alert the entire maritime community and the population in general to the precautions to be taken, both when preparing to go to sea, and when they are at sea or in coastal areas.

These entities ask that mooring be strengthened and that close surveillance be maintained of moored and anchored vessels.

Promenades by the sea or in areas exposed to sea turmoil should also be avoided, such as the harbor protection breakwaters, cliffs or beaches, and recreational fishing should not be practiced, especially near cliffs and areas of cliffs frequently hit by the breaking waves.
