VRSA Historical Archive and Ayamonte Library promote exchange of historical essays

Municipalities at the mouth of the Guadiana strengthen cultural ties

The Municipal Library of Ayamonte received yesterday, March 28, the signature of the bibliographic exchange between the Municipal Historical Archive António Rosa Mendes, of Vila Real de Santo António and the Municipal Library Jiménez Barberi, of that Spanish city.

The bibliographic exchange, which includes publications edited by the two municipalities and historiographical investigations carried out by the respective municipal services, was attended by Conceição Pires, councilor for culture and education of VRSA, Fernando Pessanha, historian and superior technician of Culture of the autarchy, as well as by Miguel Godinho, head of the Culture and Historical Heritage Subdivision of Vila Real.

The Ayuntamiento de Ayamonte was represented by the Councilor for Culture Remedios Sánchez Rubiales, and by the historian and municipal archivist María Antonia Moreno Flores.

With this policy of exchanges, the two municipalities at the mouth of the Guadiana intend to "disclose the investigations in terms of history and heritage produced on both sides of the border, making consultation of this bibliographic collection available to users of both cultural facilities".
