The Municipal Assembly of Vila Real de Santo António approved a budget amendment that aims, on the one hand, to regularize the revision process of the Municipal Adjustment Plan (PAM), carried out in 2019 but which is still awaiting approval from the Court of Auditors, and, on the other hand, another, to end a contract for a fee-based parking concession in the municipality.
The PS of VRSA, which voted «in favor of both points», claims to have contributed, in this way, to straighten «what was crooked», namely «the problems of legality, or rather, the lack of legality, in the way it was the PAM review process was instructed in 2019» and «a parking concession contract that, due to the way it was formalized, should never have been started».
«The budget amendment is an essential instrument for the Municipality to solve the problems created by the deficient way in which the PAM review process was instructed and its submission for approval by the Court of Auditors, by not submitting individual requests for prior inspection regarding to the financing contracts that will be transferred to the Municipality due to the internalization of the SGU», framed the PS from Vila-Real.
As for the termination of the contract with the company ESSE, it aimed to end a «concession contract for the management and operation of the public service of charged parking in the parishes of Monte Gordo and Vila Real de Santo António» and was an electoral promise of the Socialist Party.
The socialists stress the «degree of reliability and demand in the defense of the public interest» of the documentation and legal facts presented by the Municipality, which they consider to be «sufficiently enlightening» and that guarantee the legality of the decision.
