April brings new perspectives on arts and literature to the Library of Albufeira

Flávio Costa, photojournalist at Sul Informação, presents “Equal”, between the 6th and the 22nd of April

The Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, in Albufeira, hosts, during the month of April, new exhibitions, book presentations and creative writing workshops that propose new perspectives on the arts and literature.

From the 6th to the 22nd of April, the photography exhibition “Equal”, by Flávio Costa, will be on display, a project that marks the author's return to his roots, with the aim of raising the awareness of the greatest number of people to the importance of equality. «We are all equal regardless of our color, race, ethnicity and so on», he stressed.

Flávio started his career with a photography course at ETIC Algarve, in 2018, and says that, for two years of his life, he was in contact with people who were in the field of photography, which allowed him to evolve drastically, «not only on a professional level, but also on a personal level».

This exhibition is the most recent project of the photographer who is also a photojournalist in Sul Informação.

Two days after the opening of the photographic exhibition, on the 8th of April, at 16 pm, Naidy Monteiro presents the book “Limiam Kaminho
– Light the way for me”.

In the work written in two languages, Krioulo, her mother tongue, and Portuguese, the author intends to convey a message of Faith in the pursuit of Happiness, noting that «often it depends only on our power to listen to our inner voice and to unblock thoughts that bring us suffering”.

The book highlights the importance of living today and the now, the importance of religion and family as a model for finding your spiritual “self”, ensuring fullness with those you love.

In the same month there is also the presentation of the literary work of Helder Neto.

“Operação Platina” was the name chosen by the writer from Albufeira, for his new literary narrative on the history of Portugal and the contours of the Armed Forces, which will be presented on April 15, at the Municipal Library Lídia Jorge, at 16 pm.

The afternoon of the 19th will be dedicated to the county's little writers. “Writers from a Palm and a Half” is the name of the Creative Writing Workshop program for children from 8 to 12 years old, taking place from 17:30 pm to 19:00 pm. Participation is free of charge, subject to prior registration via email [email protected].

As part of the Readers' Club in the Multipurpose Room of the Municipal Library, on the 29th, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, the 2nd session of the “Creative Writing Workshop” will be held, by the mediator Vanda de la Salete.

Throughout the year, eight monthly sessions will be held, alternating on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The objective of the mediator is to bring together people who are fond of reading for the general public: sharing texts and opinions, with a view to increasing the value of each participant.

The Municipal Library is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 19:15 pm. On Mondays the hours are from 12:00 to 18:30 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:30.
