First seahorse sanctuary in the Ria Formosa on Culatra Island is already marked

The installation took place between the 19th and 22nd of February

The first Ria Formosa seahorse sanctuary on Culatra Island is already marked. The installation took place between the 19th and 22nd of February using the solar vessel and other means provided by the Association of Residents of Ilha da Culatra.

The work carried out by João Horta, Topografia e Sistemas de Informação Geográfica, a company contracted by Almancil International Rotary Club, CCMAR and PNRF, was assisted by the University of Algarve and the Associação de Moradores da Ilha da Culatra.

The 44ha area to be protected, which resulted from a participatory process, was marked with buoys, stakes, information panels and navigation warning lights, in accordance with the maritime signaling project approved by the Captaincy of the Port of Olhão.
