Portimão Museum will have an international exhibition and symposium in March

there is a lot to see

The 20th International Art Exhibition and the 3rd edition of the Portimão International Painting Symposium will mark the March program of the Portimão Museum.

The International Art Exhibition – AamA (Asian, American and Mediterranean Art) is composed of sculpture and painting works by 12 artists, from various nationalities, including China, Romania, Spain, Italy, Azerbaijan and Portugal.

Under the motto of “Freedom”, curators Arlindo Arez and Qi Lou invited international artists to present their work through their respective worldviews, as a way to provoke the desire to contemplate and disturb the observer.

«This invitation resulted in a comprehensive collection, mostly composed of abstract art, in which each artist expresses and pictorially interprets his or her thoughts according to their origin, in the form of sculpture and having freedom as a theme», says the Portimão Chamber .

The exhibition presents two pieces in bronze, one by the Spanish sculptor Miguel Isla, who already has a public sculpture in the city of Portimão, and another in stainless steel, by the sculptor Arlindo Arez, with paintings by the Romanian painter Maria Balea, by the Catalan painters Rafael Romero and Silvia Acalá, the Andalusian painter Frenando Barrionuevo, the Italian painters Renato Galbuzera and Maria Jannelli, the Chinese Luo Qi and Luo Tian, and the Portuguese Arlindo Arez.

The AAmA project was born in the Chinese city of Hangzhou by the hands of Professor Qi Luo, who joined other artists, including professors and professors, in order to start this international project, which brings together more than 80 creatives from 50 countries, with the main goal of going beyond the borders of art and becoming a multicultural and social project.

The 20th International Art Exhibition – AamA can be visited until the 16th of April, at the following times: Tuesday from 14:30 pm to 18:00 pm and Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 18:00 pm.

The third edition of the Portimão International Painting Symposium will be marked by female sensibility and will take place from 6 to 11 March in the hall of the auditorium of the Portimão Museum, always between 9 am and 30 pm.

This edition invites you to explore the theme “Freedom and Women”, attracting four internationally recognized artists to the Museum of Portimão, from different cultures and religions, to interpret in pictorial form (painting) themes such as refugees, gender violence, and sustainability.

The signs of time inspire new records and approaches to delicate and urgent issues in society, especially in defense of cultural values, since thoughts and actions help to awaken reasons that are often forgotten or ignored.

Thus, under the motto “Freedom and Women”, Aseel Azizieh, from Jordan, Rasha Deeb, from Syria, Toña Gomez, from Spain and Kinga Subika, from Poland, will give free rein to their creativity.

Over these six days, an artistic, abstract and contemporary investigation will be carried out on the proposed theme, in an open atelier format, offering the opportunity for dialogue, not only between the artists involved, but also open to the interested community, which is encouraged to participate and enjoy the symposium.

The event is produced by the Cuneo Sularte Cultural Association, curated by Arlindo Arez, in partnership with the Portimão Museum and with the institutional support of the Portimão City Council.
