Women show “Sonos Falados” in the Municipal Swimming Pools of Silves

Exhibition is the result of a project by the Women's Democratic Movement

The exhibition “Sonos Falados”, promoted by the Democratic Movement of Women with the support of the Municipality of Silves, was inaugurated this Friday and can be seen until the 25th of March, at the Complexo das Piscinas Municipal de Silves.

This is, according to Câmara de Silves, «an artistic project of a collaborative nature that has the participation of 104 women from different professional sectors, who were invited to, through a small pillow, execute a plastic work that symbolically represented the his depository of dreams and/or fears, leaving, in this way, on the pillow, the shapes that outline some of his concerns or dreams».

This initiative resulted in the works now on display in Silves.

Synopsis of the exhibition “Sonos Falados”:

«As part of the celebrations of International Women's Day, the Évora branch of the MDM - Women's Democratic Movement, and the team of the project Create Worlds Of Equality I Act And Convergir To Change promoted, in partnership with the Museum of Évora, the exhibition Sonos Spoken.

In 2014, the 104th anniversary of the declaration and recognition of March 8 as International Women's Day is celebrated. Sonos Falados is a collaborative artistic project involving 104 women from different professional sectors.

The proposal consisted of distributing a small pillow to a heterogeneous group of women and challenging them to make a plastic intervention on it. The pillow as an object is the physical place where dreams, anxieties, fears and ambitions are deposited daily.

The challenge was thus an invitation to try to symbolically represent the depositary of dreams and/or fears, that is, to leave on the pillow the shapes that outline some of your concerns or dreams. Sonos Falados is an exhibition of 104 objects intervened by the 104 women who participated in this project and who were invited either individually or for the work they develop in some institutions».
