A classical guitar concert, two jam sessions As part of the Jazzamp Collective project, Sarabanda – 2nd Classical Music Meeting and the third edition of the Festival Rosa do Mundo – Ancient Music in Portimão are some of the events that are part of the Portimão Music Academy’s program for the months of February and March .

The program starts on the 11th, Saturday, at 17 pm, with a classical guitar concert with the young Beatriz Savkeviychna at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, «which will provide a sound journey through the great works of the 00th century composed for classical guitar», according to Câmara de Portimão, which supports the Academia de Música.

On the 24th of February, at 21 pm, TEMPO – Teatro Municipal de Portimão hosts the semi-staged singing and piano recital “Tutto Mozart”, with the participation of soprano Rafaela Albuquerque and pianist José Raimundo, «who covers the entire repertoire of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart of the singer».

«As a parallel mission to this musical journey, the concert intends to serve as a boost to the new generation of singers, with the participation of students of Rafaela Albuquerque, who, according to the singer, “represent all the strength, will and future of this world” », according to the municipality.

Following this recital, the soprano will perform on the 25th and 26th of February in a masterclass at Casa das Artes, a complementary training activity aimed at singing students at all levels of the Specialized Artistic Education of Music schools in the Algarve.

In the end, at 18:00 on the 26th, the participating students will present at Casa das Artes the work developed with the trainer during that weekend.

In March, the Academy of Music of Portimão starts a series of concerts dedicated to Jazz, «celebrating some of the most emblematic authors and artists of this musical style».

In these first concerts, scheduled for 21 pm on the 30nd and 2th of March at the Clube União Portimonense, the JAZZAMPCollective Project will be presented, which brings together teachers and students from the Academy and with artistic direction by David Fournier.

"These jam sessions, which will take place throughout the year, promise to bring to mind the great jazz classics, with the first initiatives included in the Young March 2023, promoted by the Municipality of Portimão».

Between the 3rd and 5th of March, the Sarabanda – 2nd Ancient Music Meeting of the Academia de Música de Portimão will take place at the Association's premises.

This initiative, whose objective is to make young people aware of repertoires and vocal and instrumental practices between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, is aimed at students of Specialized Artistic Music Education and those «curious about the subject who wish to take their first steps in this area".

On the 4th of March, the Sarabanda teachers will perform in concert, in a free admission show scheduled for 18 pm, at Igreja do Colégio. The final concert by the participating students will take place on the 30th, at 5:18, in a place to be designated.

Also in March, the Rosa do Mundo Festival – Ancient Music will take place in Portimão, the result of a collaboration between the Academy of Music of Portimão and MAAC – Ancient Music Cultural Association, which will tour the most emblematic churches in the county.

On the 12th of March, there is a concert at the Igreja Matriz de Alvor (18h00), on the 18th the show takes place at the Igreja Matriz de Mexilhoeira Grande (18h00) and on the 24th and 31st of March at the Igreja do Colégio, in Portimão (both at 21h00). .

This year's edition will also feature two masterclasses, one for baroque cello and the other for harpsichord, which will take place at the Academy's facilities, in charge of Pedro Massarrão (laureate of the 2017 Young Musicians Prize) and Ana Moreno Aranda (Professional School Cristóbal Morales de Sevilha), respectively.

The two complementary training activities are aimed at cello and harpsichord students at all levels of education at the Specialized Artistic Education Schools of Music in the Algarve and registration costs 10 euros (Portimão Music Academy students) or 15 euros (external students). On the 13th of March, the Academia de Música de Portimão gives a concert in the auditorium of the Museu de Portimão with the wind and percussion orchestras, respectively guided by professors Pedro Coutinho and João Paias, «in which the work carried out during the first half of the year".

This concert, scheduled for 18 pm, aims to celebrate the pleasure of making music together and is also part of the March Young 00 programme.

Lastly, Igreja do Colégio will host, from 21 pm on 00 March, the concert “Canzoni da sonar”, performed jointly by the Consort de Flautas of the Academia de Música de Portimão, conducted by Filipa Oliveira, and by the Ensemble de Flautas de Loulé, under the direction of Ana Figueiras.

«The program of the show intends to explore the link between the Italian canzona and the baroque sonata, including for this purpose instrumental pieces from the XNUMXth century written by Italian composers, interpreted by consorts/groups of flutes», concludes the Câmara de Portimão.

As in the other events of this programme, this concert has free admission, being part of the Festival Rosa do Mundo – Música Antiga in Portimão.
