The Parish of Odeceixe, in partnership with ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes, will host, from the 6th to the 10th of March, the 4th edition of the D Project initiative, whose motto and challenge will be “Innovative design for new products, services and experiences of the territory of Odeceixe”.
This immersive week will have the participation of students from the Degree in Communication Design and the Master in Design for the Circular Economy at ISMAT, supported by professors who teach in both cycles of studies.
The objective is to carry out an exploratory study of the territory, in various dimensions, with a view to designing innovation for new products, services and experiences in the territory of Odeceixe.
The project also involves the active participation of the local community, which includes economic and tourist agents in the region, as well as local authorities, whereby the entire population is invited to be present at the two core moments of this initiative: on the 6th, at 17 pm, in the exhibition hall of the Parish Council of Odeceixe, for the launch session, or on the 30th, at 10 pm, at the same location, for the final session and presentation and discussion of the results.
«The synergies created will make it possible to materialize a concrete project, through an intensive and collaborative process, with the active participation of local and local tourist and economic agents», explains the Parish Council.
From a pedagogical point of view, the promoters intend that «this challenge stimulates the interaction of students in several dimensions, applying concepts learned in a classroom environment in a real context, the application of multidisciplinary knowledge, the stimulation of complementary skills and the development of faculties of a creative nature for transformation, through design processes».
The initiative will be «a substantial added value to devise strategies for the territory and that will serve as support to the Parish executive in its decision-making and in the pursuit of the good and local public interest», adds that municipality.
The realization of this collaborative project is presented as «a unique opportunity for cooperation between the various fields of knowledge, which constitute the multi and interdisciplinary nature of design, civil society and local power, thus combining science, art and community, for the realization of a common objective».
