Smuggling Festival returns to celebrate border friendship from March 24th to 26th

Over three days, between Friday and Sunday, the two villages, one in Portugal, the other in Spain, but connected by the Guadiana River, will be an open-air stage

The Festival do Contrabando — Traffic de Artes no Guadiana is back to its original format and takes place on the 24th, 25th and 26th of March. With an eclectic programme, which «encompasses presentations or artistic interventions, spread over three days», with «cultural content that will invade and stir up the towns of Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana, surrounded by traditions and where bridges of union between the past the present and the future».

Over three days, between Friday and Sunday, the two villages, one in Portugal, the other in Spain, but connected by the Guadiana River, will be an open-air stage for shows and cultural interventions by companies from various countries.

«The poster defines the temporal passage between the portrayed period and the present and, through this duality, the potentiality of the future. In a new dawn, the hands move again and time begins to count presenting sounds, lights, colors, aromas, the frenzy, the hustle and the friendship that reigns on the border are experienced and celebrated again», describes the Chamber of Alcoutim, which organises.

This year «new solutions will be presented in the organization of the event, with a view to improving its dynamics», adds the Municipality.

«Guaranteedly, this new edition will represent the resurgence, renewal and reinvigoration of an iconic festival for the territory, with the presentation of a program of enormous cultural quality and improvements in local dynamics», underlines the municipality.

The complete program of the Festival do Contrabando will be presented during the current month of February.
