Carnival parade of Lagos schools takes to the streets this Friday

It should gather close to 2000 participants

The Carnival parade of schools in Lagos takes to the streets this Friday, February 17th, covering the main streets of the municipality, and is expected to bring together close to 2000 participants.

The event, organized by the Municipality of Lagos, relies on the active mobilization of the school community, with the collaboration of public schools from both school groups (AE Gil Eanes and AE Júlio Dantas), IPSS (CASLAS – Pre-school) and establishments private.

«The theme is free, which does not mean that some schools or classes can adopt a basic theme for the students' costumes», clarifies the autarchy.

The journey of the masked youths will begin at Jardim da Constitution at 10:00 am, passing through Avenida dos Descobrimentos, the Old Town Hall, the shopping area (Praça Gil Eanes, Rua 25 de Abril, Rua Silva Lopes, Travessa do Mar) until arriving at Praça do Infant.

The Centro de Estudos de Lagos (Senior University) also participates in the parade, as well as students from the Professional Technical Courses for Child Support, from the Júlio Dantas School Group, and students from the Learning Support Center (CAA) at the Gil Eanes School .

«Only the elementary schools in the villages of Luz, Odiáxere and Bensafrim do not participate in the event, in a logic of proximity, as they are involved in initiatives that take place in the respective parishes», clarifies the Municipality.

Children from Escola de Odiáxere and from Centro Infantil de Odiáxere will parade through the streets of the parish, having as an intergenerational meeting point with Lar de Odiáxere, since during the year they promote various activities together.

In Luz, the children's parade starts at 10:00 am, on Avenida dos Pescadores, until it reaches the Fortress where the children will have fun.

In Bensafrim, the little ones will have a party inside the school.
