Thiago Carvalho, renowned researcher and immunologist, will give the inaugural lecture of the Medicine Congress of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), on the 24th of February, at 10:00 am.
The doctor will provide a reflection on fundamental scientific research and the limits of translation (Basic research and the limits of translation).
The researcher thus joins the vast panel of specialists, national and international, who are part of the CHUA Medicine Congress to present papers and reflect on areas as diverse as clinical practice such as «Women and Children's Health», «Cardiovascular Medicine », «Oncology», «Palliative Care», «Intensive Care» and «Surgery».
In addition to writing about the development of new drugs in the column “The clinical pipeline”, from the magazine Nature Medicine, Thiago Carvalho produces the podcast about fundamental science of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and is scientific editor of the The Journal of Experimental Medicine.
Of note in Thiago Carvalho's career is the coordination of the Champalimaud Foundation's doctoral program and postgraduate studies at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science.
Thiago Carvalho was also deputy curator of the exhibition about Darwin, at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
The CHUA scientific event takes place on the 24th and 25th of February, at the Hotel NAU São Rafael Atlântico, in Albufeira.
