UAlg entourage participates in the launch of the 2nd phase of the European University of the Seas

This second phase has as its main objective the standardization of Higher Education in the European space

A delegation from the University of the Algarve, which included the rector Paulo Águas and the president of the Academic Association Fábio Zacarias, participated in the launching meeting of the second phase of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU, 2.0), which took place from 7 to 10 February in Cádiz.

On the 9th, Paulo Águas participated, along with the nine deans of the universities in the alliance, in the Governing Board Meeting, where this institutional partnership was signed and the will to continue building a Europe of knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability.

This second phase has as its main objective the standardization of Higher Education in Europe and the simplification of the mobility process for students who wish to complete their academic career in these nine European universities.

 

 

The Academic Association of the University of Algarve, together with student representatives from other Higher Education institutions, recommended the creation of an efficient and direct line of communication in order to publicize the project, showing itself available to participate in the creation of the strategy.

In the form of a recommendation to the Council of Rectors, he also highlighted the need to create a model for uniform accreditation of training offers and proposed the creation of a housing offer grant, which would facilitate the integration and mobility process of each and every student. .

At the end of last July, the European Commission approved the renewal of the alliance, which translated into success for the entire consortium, expanding the number of members, from six (Best Brittany, Cádiz, Kiel, Gdansk, Malta and Split), to nine, including the universities of Algarve (Portugal), Nápoles Parthenope (Italy) and NORD (Norway).

The next meeting is scheduled for the 29th of June, in Gdansk, Poland, in order to give continuity to the terms of reference.
