Cineteatro Louletano has a great month of February

The month started with a play that went to Loulé Secondary School

Lots of theater and lots of music will mark the February program of Cineteatro Louletano, with proposals from the House of Culture of Loulé, the Orquestra Clássica do Sul or the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra.

The month started with a play that went to Loulé Secondary School. It is “Bulldog”, by JAT – Janela Aberta Teatro, which talks about four young people, with different personalities, who live stories of friendship, love and brutality at school.

On the 1st of February, at Cineteatro Louletano, Ala dos Namorados also celebrated 30 years of career, with a new album and the start of the band's tour, led by Nuno Guerreiro and João Gil.

Music gives way to amateur theatre, in a play by the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, supported by the Loulé Theater Support Grant. With a text by António Clariza, “Pensão Luar do Cadoiço reopened” is a sequel to “Pensão do Luar do Cadoiço”, to be seen on Saturday, February 4th, at the Cineteatro Louletano.

On Sunday the 5th, at 18 pm, the highlight is classical music at the Igreja Matriz de Loulé, with a concert by pianist Sérgio Leite and flutist João Lourenço, both professors at the Conservatório de Música de Loulé – Francisco Rosado. It's called “Souvenir du Théâtre d'Opéra”, and the program includes Mozart, Donizetti, Toulou and Bizet, among others.

On the 6th, the deadline for registrations with Companhia de Dança Olga Roriz will end, which is looking for dance or theater students and other people from the community. Those selected will be part of the play “The time when we didn't know anything about each other”, a co-production of Cineteatro Louletano with premiere on the 29th of April.

Entries should be sent to [email protected], the auditions will take place on the 12th of February, at Palácio Gama Lobo, in Loulé.

On the 7th, there are “Staged Visits” for schools, by Figo Lampo. The idea is to go through the usually off-limits areas of the theatre, presented by some characters who bring us the history – and several stories – of Cineteatro Louletano.

On the 10th, Friday, at 21:00, there will be a theater in which the public will be the main actor.

The play will take place on the stage of Cineteatro Louletano, where the public will be invited to respond to a series of questions of a social, economic, environmental, political and even philosophical nature, always giving a different direction to the narrative, depending on the answers. It is called Fluxodrama and is brought by the company Amarelo Silvestre. In the morning there is a session for schools.

On the 11th and 12th, there is another Film Festival, this time Latin American Film, in the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium.

The 13th edition, in Loulé, is an extension of the event that took place in Lisbon at Cinema São Jorge and will bring to the Algarve over two days some of the best contemporary works of Latin American cinema, with several multi-award winning films from Colombia, Mexico, Republic Dominican and Uruguay.

On the same weekend, but in the morning, at the Cineteatro Louletano, the return of the Promenade concerts, by Orquestra Clássica do Sul, a concert dedicated to youth. It's the 12th at 11:30 am.

The programming of Cineteatro Louletano focuses on the educational community and on decentralization and for this reason, in February, between the 13th and 17th, the Companhia de Música Teatral travels to various kindergartens in Loulé carrying with it “Papi Opus 7”, a work that brings together theater and music in the person of Rui Pessoa Pires, directly involving the youngest, with stories that mix a gardener, sleep-eating flowers, bees, butterflies, wind and rain.

On the 14th, another session of the French cinema cycle will take place, at the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium, with “Les 2 Alfred”, a comedy by Bruno Podalydès, from 2020.

Also on the 14th, but at the Cineteatro Louletano, the now classic Valentine's Day Dinner brings together the soprano Filipa Lopes and the pianist Pedro Vieira de Almeida, as well as a gastronomic menu.

On Saturday the 18th, at 17 pm, another concert by Ciclo Crescendo, an event that brings together students and teachers, showing the public the work developed by everyone at the Loulé Music Conservatory – Francisco Rosado. Admission is free to the Solar da Música Nova Auditorium.

On the 23rd, for secondary schools, the return of E(u)co(m)lógica, by dancer and choreographer José Laginha, bringing together dance, music and the anatomy of the brain, in a piece that talks about ecology, about our actions, how they define us and are part of us. With
interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language.

And between the 23rd and the 4th of March, “Daqui para Frente” is a call to work with the community, in a play that seeks new (or old) talents, by director Mickaël de Oliveira, and which results in a diptych of two pieces, “ A Minha Morte” (co-production) and “A Nossa Vida” (co-production and premiere on March 11). Over two weeks, the training includes creative writing sessions and interpretation exercises, culminating in the integration of participants, in choir or individually, in the play “A Minha Morte”, on 10 March.

Almost to the end, there will still be room for a huge symphonic concert, by the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra (OFP), on February 26th, Sunday, at 17 pm.

And finally, we return to theater (and music) for schools, on the 27th of February, with “Segundo Prelúdio para uma Canção da Terra”, by Companhia de Música Teatral.
