Cardiologist Manuel José Veloso Gomes will be honored at the closing ceremony of the Medical Congress of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), which is scheduled for 13:00 on the 25th of February at the Hotel NAU São Rafael Atlântico, in Albufeira.
As the organization of the congress explained, «it was decided by the Board of Directors that in each edition of the CHUA Congress of Medicine there should be an act of homage to a personality of the CHUA who, due to his professional and civic journey at the service of medicine, has earned the recognition of society”.
Manuel José Veloso Gomes was director of the Cardiology Service at Hospital de Faro and this homage is intended to «signal the personal merits and his contribution to the growth of the Hospital de Faro and, more recently, the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve in the various fields of its professional and civic intervention, which everyone recognizes», says the organizing committee.
The «Excellence Award» will also be awarded at the ceremony to the doctor Miguel Cunha for his contribution as the first author of the article «Environmental Effects of Surgical Procedures and Strategies for Sustainable Surgery», published in 2022 in a scientific journal with the highest impact factor.
In the closing session, prizes will also be awarded to the authors of the Best Posters on display during the Congress.
