APAL creates a working group to boost the promotion of the «Albufeira» brand

The new management of APAL intends to get closer to the various agents linked to the sector

Reflect on the current state of the tourism sector, look for new strategies to promote the “Albufeira” brand, create bridges of cooperation between associates and local entities. Here are some of the objectives that led the new direction of APAL – Agência dePromoção de Albufeira, to create a Working Group, whose first meeting took place last Friday.

Mayors, businessmen, senior management of companies, representatives of business associations, there were several who were present at the launch meeting of the new Working Group created by the newly elected management of APAL.

The session was conducted by Desidério Silva, with the presence of various members of the board and other governing bodies, as well as Cristiano Cabrita, vice-president of Albufeira City Council.

The new management of APAL intends to approach the various agents linked to the sector, encouraging their participation in different forums. The strategy involves valuing the role of this institution so that it can be an even more effective forum for promoting the destination, integrating the varied tourist offer present in this territory.

In the working session, some of the initiatives that are part of the Plan of Activities of APAL for 2023 were presented. The document was approved in January and includes a set of actions in several markets, as well as the presence in fairs, the organization of workshops and fam trips.

APAL also intends to reinforce its institutional communication, making known the work carried out, also with the aim of bringing in new members and increasing its network of partners.

Several were the contributions of those present and there was no lack of always important topics. There was talk of issues such as seasonality, interconnection with partner entities, the need to reinforce the promotion of the destination by betting on digital tools, the valuation of niche markets that complement the sun and sea product, promotion in markets where there are flights direct to Faro, whether consolidated or growing, or the integrated promotion of large events that can maximize the investments made by the promoting entities.

There is a consensus on the idea that there is work to be done and that APAL, in conjunction with the municipality, associates and partners, can play an increasingly important role in identifying opportunities for promotion, bringing together associates in joint actions and contributing to enhancing the “Albufeira” brand.

The conclusions of this first meeting will serve to support the next strategic options, and it is APAL's intention that this informal advisory body be able to meet quarterly for new inputs and suggestions.
