Registration for the 6th Acceleration Bootcamp of the municipal incubator StartUp Portimão is open until March 1st.

Smart cities and climate change are central themes of this year's edition, which resumes face-to-face activities and will take place on the 8th and 9th of March and the 12th and 13th of April.

The initiative will be in English in a hybrid format, with the first moment taking place online, while the second will mark the return of the face-to-face aspect after the constraints imposed by Covid-19.

Entrepreneurs looking for the opportunity to take their project or business to a higher level can apply, for a total of 12 free places, until the 1st of March, here

As has been the case since 2018, when the first edition was held, participants in the acceleration Bootcamp will have several training sessions on topics such as finance, marketing, approaching investors, sources of investment, aspects of improving decision-making and pitch training, among others, in addition to moments of networking, and Speed Mentoring with experienced mentors in crucial areas of development.

Several «inspiring talks» will also be part of this Bootcamp, culminating on the 13th of April with the holding of a conference under the theme “Smart Cities and Climate Change”.

The 6th Acceleration Bootcamp is the result of a partnership established between the Municipality of Portimão, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Territorios Criativos and GEN Portugal, the largest entrepreneurship platform in the world, which this year joins the School of Hospitality and Tourism – hub of Portimão.

To promote this initiative, the Portimão business incubator is carrying out a roadshow which covers teaching institutions and partners, such as the Escola Superior de Gestão, Hotelaria e Turismo – Portimão branch, Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes and the local branch of the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training, aiming to provide clarification and encourage the participation of young entrepreneurs.

According to Luís Matos Martins, CEO of Creative Territories, «after several online editions, the face-to-face aspect will be resumed this year, in a clear commitment to the digital transition and sustainability, themes that, in addition to being on the agenda, are central to the positioning of the businesses and respective territories».

«With a positive impact since the first edition, the focus is again on the development of skills that provide the success of entrepreneurs», underlines the person in charge.

For Isilda Gomes, mayor of Portimão, Bootcamp is «a privileged space for sharing, collaboration and cooperation among all, similar to what happens with StartUp Portimão operating at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve and which generates new synergies and an important entrepreneurial potential».

The last edition of Bootcamp had 40 hours of training, 12 participating startups and entrepreneurs from Portugal, Brazil, Israel and Germany, in addition to a dozen and a half speakers.

The Bootcamp final held last year was won by the Breakfastaway project, with virtual incubation at StartUp Portimão, developed by entrepreneur Leonardo Mariano Silva, which provides local accommodation, hotel and residents customers with a hotel breakfast experience without leaving home and already makes hundreds of daily deliveries, especially in Braga, Porto, Lisbon and the Algarve region.

Second place belonged to Central Cook, an industrial kitchen rental service, and the MyFairyNanny project, created about a year ago by two friends, Carina Cruz and Carolina Carrola, entrepreneurs at StartUp Portimão.
