Tavira focuses on proximity to citizens through “Open Presidencies”

First takes place on the 26th of January

The Chamber of Tavira will initiate the “Open Presidencies” with the objective of reinforcing participation and active citizenship and promoting the proximity of the municipal executive with the population, creating a space for decentralized dialogue.

In this context, the mayor Ana Paula Martins, accompanied by the executive, will travel to all parishes with a tour by locality, where there will be an open space for dialogue. On these days, from 16:00 pm to 18:00 pm, citizens will be heard, individually, who have previously scheduled, through the address [email protected].

On the 26th of January, to mark the Day of Public Participation, the first “Open Presidency” takes place in the parish of Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo.

The remaining Presidencies take place on February 23 (Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão), March 30 (Santa Luzia), April 27 (Cachopo), May 25 (Conceição and Cabanas) and June 29 (Tavira).

In a note, the municipality stresses that «the potential of public participation is recognized and reflected in its contribution to a more democratic decision-making» and that «proximity is fundamental in this process and enables the improvement of communication and relationship with the citizen ».
