European program “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values” presented in the Algarve

The European program CERV – Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values, will be presented in the Algarve this Friday, January 27th, at 11 am, in a session that will take place at República 30, in Olhão. 

CERV, part of the European Union Fund for Justice, results from the merger of the “Europe for Citizens” program with the “Equality and Citizenship Rights” program and its main objective is to promote the values ​​and rights enshrined in the Treaties, the Charter and in international human rights conventions.

The program supports civil society organisations, active at local, regional, national and transnational levels, in promoting Union values ​​and rights, strengthening respect for the rule of law and contributing to building a more democratic Union.

In addition, it aims to contribute to increasing knowledge and awareness of citizens' values ​​and rights, such as equality and non-discrimination, children's rights, data protection, EU citizenship rights, the integration of gender and non-
discrimination, preventing and combating gender-based violence, as well as all forms of violence against children and other vulnerable groups.

According to CCDR Algarve, the CERV program also aims to promote citizen participation in the democratic life of the EU and increase knowledge and awareness of the common European history.

The Ministry of Justice is the entity designated by the European Commission as the National Contact Point for the CERV programme. Headquartered at the Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve Region, EUROPE DIRECT ALGARVE, in its capacity as the Official Information Center of the European Commission, integrated into a European Network, constitutes an access point for all those who are interested and want to know more about this program and about the European Union in general.

The program has as intervention territory the 16 councils of the region.

The session is aimed at non-profit organisations, municipalities and other public entities and structures and organisations, public or private, for-profit or not-for-profit.
