Portimão hosts event dedicated to Nature-Based Solutions

Portimão will host the Portuguese hub of an international network, whose director is Américo Mateus, from ISMAT

International specialists will be at the Portimão Museum between the 26th and 28th of January, to participate in the official launch event of the Nature Based Solution Hub Portugal, whose director is Américo Mateus, professor and researcher in the area of ​​Design at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes (ISMAT).

This will be the hub of a European network of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), which is born out of the Urbinart project, in which ISMAT and Américo Mateus were partners, together with Network Nature and with the support of the Municipality of Portimão.

The NBS HUB Portugal «is a meeting space that brings together specialists in Nature-Based Solutions, citizens, municipalities, associations, researchers, companies and professionals and aims to be a platform for sharing good practices and knowledge», according to the Portimão City Council.

«The objective is to promote an active citizenship through participation for the recognition of the importance of Nature-Based Solutions, as well as the creation of cooperative networks for the implementation of good practices throughout the national territory, namely through access to European funding lines and worldwide", he added.

Also according to the municipality, the NBS «seek the protection, regeneration and enhancement of ecosystems, as well as their sustainable development and management».

Portimão is associated with this project «aiming to create opportunities for local cooperation around the environment and sustainability».
