Music, fireworks and sport: thousands said goodbye to 2022 in Quarteira

«We are very satisfied with the success of these days»

Concerts, fireworks, sport and a «very positive balance». This is how it was with Quarteira's New Year's Eve programme, which brought thousands of people to this Algarve city.

This year in a new space – Passeio das Dunas – and in a different model, with a program of four days and not just one night, between the 28th and 31st of December, there were many who chose this space by the sea to give welcome to 2023.

The bet on the silverware of the house marked this program, with Marc Noah, Hybrid Theory The Linkin Park Tribute and the performance of local dance groups filling the stage (and the audience) these days.

But it was the concert on New Year's Eve, with Expensive Soul and a performance by DJ Christian F, that brought a veritable flood to this pedestrian space by the beach, on the renovated connection between Quarteira and Vilamoura.

The energy on stage of the members of the band from Leça da Palmeira infected the spectators in themes such as “Love is Magic”, “I don't know” or “What a Saudade”.

Sport was also in the spotlight with the S. Silvestre race, on the 28th, which broke a new record this year: more than 1600 participants ran through the city's avenues in a race that is now part of the national calendar.

«We are very pleased with the success of these days of a program that aimed, fundamentally, to offer our visitors who headed to the South for a mini-vacation diversified entertainment proposals, without ever forgetting the resident population. But this was also an initiative aimed at promoting the local economy, whether in terms of commerce, hotels or restaurants, and here too we can say that the balance is very positive», consider those responsible for the Municipality of Loulé.

This initiative was organized by the Municipality of Loulé and had the support of the Parish Council of Quarteira.
