Loulé rehabilitates 18 houses in the “Frederico Ulrich” Municipal District

During the intervention, residents will be relocated to houses belonging to the Chamber

The Council of Loulé approved yesterday, the 23rd, the launch of a tender for the rehabilitation work of 18 houses in the Municipal District “Frederico Ulrich”, in what will be the 1st phase of a work integrated in the Local Housing Strategy of the municipality.

The intervention will motivate an investment of around 3 million euros, of which 2,6 million will be financed by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan and 332 thousand by the Municipality.

«This is another one of the housing responses in this municipality carried out under the 1st Law program, of the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU), and integrated in the new generation of housing policies carried out by the Government of the Republic», according to the Chamber de Loulé, which classifies the undertaking as "a priority and structuring action".

The work in the neighborhood «is aimed at the rehabilitation of the space of each of the dwellings, of type T2 and T3, through the expansion of the area and interior compartmentalization, as well as the requalification of the respective public areas».

During the period of execution of the works – 720 days – the residents will be relocated in houses acquired by the municipality.

«This neighbourhood, designed in the 40s by the Loulé architect Manuel Maria Laginha, was built in the early 50s and has not had any intervention since then. As such, this work has a great impact for those who live here, but also in terms of urban requalification of Loulé», frames the municipality.

«The undertaking will also allow the development of strategies that encourage social integration, also contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of residents of the neighborhood and the city’s population, since feelings of neighborhood and social cohesion will be reinforced», concludes the Chamber from Loule.
