PSD initiative “Sentir Algarve” brings to light «serious problems» in Vila do Bispo and Lagos

Social-democrats criticize «ineffectiveness of the public authorities regarding the entry of Sagres»

The «ineffectiveness of the public authorities regarding the entrance to Sagres, a poorly maintained road, with dangerous unevenness, without shoulders or repairs», despite being «the main structuring route of the village and access to the fortress of Sagres, being traversed by millions of people throughout the year". This is one of the «critical points» in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, detected by the first Sentir Algarve initiative, organized by PSD Algarve.

The entourage, made up of PSD deputies Luís Gomes, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos, as well as councilwoman Paula Freitas, former mayor Gilberto Viegas and local PSD coordinator Paulo Marreiros, also denounces «the containers in which many students Vila do Bispo have classes and there is no solution in sight».

Despite the current situation being pointed out by the social democrats, the Vila do Bispo Chamber, presided over by the socialist Rute Silva, recently announced the purchase of land next to the current school for the construction of the new School Center, which will answer this problem.

According to Cristóvão Norte, president of PSD Algarve, who also participated in the initiative, «in Sagres, the road that should lead to the beginning of the world, seems like the end of the world. It is a shame for those who live there and for those who access the fortress. Neither the municipality nor the government are doing their job well».

On the other hand, «in health and education, the problems in the municipality are also serious. Students with classes in containers and patients without care when necessary. We have a councilwoman who is constructively denouncing the problems and a very competent coordinator. We are rested”.

In Lagos, time was dedicated to health, in an informal visit to the “new” Hospital Terras do Infante, leased to a private company for 42 thousand euros a month and which, denounces the PSD, «is being used only in basic emergencies and has no any specialty in operation, nor surgical blocks to be used».

Mílvia Gonçalves, president of PSD Lagos, accompanied Cristóvão Norte, who pointed out that “they call a hospital something that, a hospital, has nothing and serves people poorly. While it is like this, it is just a bad real estate deal for the public coffers, since, in seven years, the contract ends and meanwhile money has already been invested for very little».

The initiatives of the social democrats in Vila do Bispo and Lagos culminated in meetings in which the oldest militants were honored and which had a total of close to 150 people. Both had the presence of the national municipal coordinator Pedro Alves.
