Director of CHUA's neonatology service dies in motorcycle accident

Death of João Rosa «represents a great loss for CHUA, both as a person and as a professional»

João Rosa, a pediatrician who was the director of the neonatology service at the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA), died this Saturday, January 28, following a motorcycle accident in Faro. 

The collision, between the motorcycle on which João Rosa, 58 years old, was riding, and a light vehicle, took place at around 00:20, near the Auchan petrol stations, in the Algarve capital.

The doctor was still transported to the hospital, where he would eventually die, confirmed Paulo Neves, member of the Board of Directors of CHUA, when Sul Informação. 

In addition to being director of the neonatology service, João Rosa was also director of pediatric intensive care.

His death «represents a great loss for CHUA, both as a person and as a professional», lamented Paulo Neves.

There were 14 operators at the accident site, from the Firefighters Sapadores de Faro, PSP and INEM, supported by 5 vehicles.
