Blue Growth highlighted at the meeting on cross-border cooperation in Mértola and Alcoutim

Meeting takes place today, between 10:30 and 17:00

The navigability and enhancement of the Guadiana, the ATLAZUL project and the University of the Sea are three of the topics included in the work program on cross-border cooperation, promoted by the Commissions for Coordination and Regional Development (CCDR) of Alentejo and Algarve and by the Junta de Andalucía. 

The programme, which takes place today, January 26th, starts at 10:30 am in Mértola and ends at 17:00 pm in Alcoutim.

Throughout the working day of those responsible for the three territories that make up the Euroregion (Alentejo, Algarve and Andalusia), the theme of blue growth motivates the participation of the main entities involved in its implementation in Portugal and Spain.

During the morning, work takes place at the Multipurpose Pavilion in Mértola, with the presentation of the Cooperation Strategy for Green Infrastructures and Biodiversity and the Integrated Territorial Intervention (ITI) Water and Landscape Ecosystems and the navigability and enhancement of the Guadiana River.

In the afternoon, after a visit to the site of the future international bridge Alcoutim – Sanlúcar de Guadiana, the cooperation project ATLAZUL and the “European Alliance of Universities of the Sea” will be addressed.

Finally, at 17 pm, after the presentation of the CILIFO project, the works will be closed by the Secretary of State for Regional Development Isabel Ferreira, by the mayor of Alcoutim Osvaldo Gonçalves, and by those responsible for the promoting entities, António Ceia da Silva (CCDR Alentejo ), José Apolinário (CCDR Algarve) and José Henrique Millo Rocher (Junta de Andalucía).
