Algarve goes to Fitur to show itself as a «trend destination» for this year

For five days, the Algarve will be at one of the biggest tourism events in the world

The Algarve will be present at Fitur – International Tourism Fair to be held from the 18th to the 22nd of January in Madrid, where it will be promoted as a «trend destination» for this year.

«The Algarve was included in the top 10 tourist destinations that will be trending this year for the offer of active and nature tourism, air connections and the quality of its accommodation, according to a report by the consultancy Mabrian Travel Intelligence», says João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Board (RTA).

«The pandemic has structurally changed the industry to the global school and the Algarve has the characteristics desired by new travellers. We will take Fitur to a destination with nature, tradition, gastronomy, good wine, industrial and creative tourism. Although it is not easy to predict how the travel market will evolve in 2023, we believe that there is a lot of room for growth for the Spanish market in the Algarve, which before the pandemic represented more than one million overnight stays and 400 thousand guests», he adds.

For five days, the Algarve will be at what is one of the biggest tourism events in the world and the leading fair for the Ibero-American markets, appearing in an exhibitor integrated in the national stand of Turismo de Portugal (stand 4C02).

The first three days are dedicated to trade and therefore more business-oriented, in which it will be possible to schedule meetings with buyers from the associative and business sectors in order to make known the potential of the destination.

The 21st and 22nd are aimed at the consumer (general public) and there are several strategies to entice visitors to book holidays in the Algarve. One of them is the offer of promotional material – «with the best beaches, nature trails, hot spots for bird watching, the cultural heritage of the region – and gifts».

Among the extensive program of activities on the stand, the highlight goes «to the presentation of the Algarve to the public on the 22nd, at 12 pm, a unique opportunity to highlight the attributes that make the region, year after year, the main holiday destination in the country ».

Pedestrian routes, cycle tourism, creative, industrial and literary tourism, gastronomy and wines are some proposals that the South of Portugal will take to Fitur this year, on a stand that can be visited every day of the fair from 10:00 am.
